Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL), one of India’s leading multi-metal companies with operations across carbon steel, stainless steel, specialty alloys, aluminium foil and captive power generation, has reported strong financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The company delivered healthy growth in revenue, profitability and operating performance while achieving key milestones in its expansion programme.
During the first quarter of FY27, Shyam Metalics recorded a 23% year-on-year increase in revenue, while EBITDA grew 28% and profit after tax (PAT) rose 21%. The company also improved its EBITDA margin by 100 basis points, supported by higher operational efficiency, better cost management and the benefits of its integrated manufacturing model.
The quarter also marked the launch of the company’s Vision 2031 strategy, which outlines its long-term plan to transform from a commodity-focused steel producer into a diversified manufacturer of value-added metal products. Through this roadmap, Shyam Metalics aims to strengthen earnings quality, expand into high-value businesses and build a more resilient and sustainable growth platform.
A major operational achievement during the quarter was the commencement of commercial production at the company’s aluminium foil manufacturing facility in Odisha. The new unit represents an important step in developing a fully integrated downstream aluminium business and expanding the company’s presence in value-added products.
The company also confirmed that its Aluminium Flat Rolled Products facility remains on schedule for commissioning during the second quarter of FY27. Other expansion projects across its portfolio are progressing according to plan and are expected to support future production capacity and revenue growth.
Commenting on the performance, Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, said the company began FY27 with strong operational momentum backed by disciplined execution and the strength of its integrated business model. He noted that consistent improvements in efficiency helped drive growth in revenue, profitability and operating margins during the quarter.
He added that the Vision 2031 roadmap reflects the company’s long-term commitment to building a diversified metals business with a greater share of value-added products. The commissioning of the aluminium foil facility and the progress of ongoing expansion projects are expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities and create new growth opportunities.
Despite undertaking one of the largest capital investment programmes in its history, the company has maintained a healthy balance sheet with low debt levels. According to the management, prudent capital allocation, strong internal cash generation and a focus on self-funded growth have enabled the company to continue expanding while maintaining financial discipline.
As new production capacities become operational, businesses such as hot rolled products, special bar quality steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other downstream segments are expected to contribute significantly to earnings. The company expects these businesses to improve profitability, capital efficiency and returns over the coming years.
With a diversified product portfolio, ongoing capacity expansion and a clearly defined long-term growth strategy, Shyam Metalics believes it is well positioned to benefit from emerging opportunities in the metals sector while creating sustained value for customers, investors and other stakeholders.
