Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has received a Letter of Empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 15,000 Off-Grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) across the state under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The empanelment is valued at approximately ₹353.89 crore and marks another significant milestone in the company’s expanding solar pumping business.
The order covers the supply of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP solar-powered water pumping systems that will be deployed across Maharashtra to support farmers with reliable and sustainable irrigation solutions. The project forms part of the state government’s efforts to promote the adoption of clean energy in agriculture while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
The Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana aims to improve access to irrigation for farmers by replacing traditional diesel and grid-powered pumps with solar-powered alternatives. The initiative is expected to help improve agricultural productivity while lowering energy costs and supporting environmentally sustainable farming practices.
Under the empanelment, Shakti Pumps will supply advanced solar water pumping systems designed to deliver dependable performance under varying field conditions. The company has established a strong presence in the renewable energy sector through its portfolio of energy-efficient pumping solutions for agricultural, industrial and domestic applications.
The latest empanelment further strengthens Shakti Pumps’ position as one of India’s leading manufacturers of solar pumping systems. The company has been actively participating in central and state government programmes aimed at expanding the use of renewable energy technologies in the agriculture sector.
Solar-powered irrigation systems are increasingly being adopted across India as they provide farmers with an uninterrupted source of energy for irrigation while reducing operating expenses and dependence on fossil fuels. Such projects also contribute to the country’s broader renewable energy goals by encouraging the use of clean and sustainable technologies in rural areas.
The Maharashtra project is expected to create significant opportunities for the company while supporting the state’s efforts to improve irrigation infrastructure and promote energy-efficient farming. With the successful execution of this programme, thousands of farmers across Maharashtra are expected to benefit from improved access to irrigation through dependable solar-powered pumping systems.
