Servotech Power Systems Ltd (SPSL) collaborates with IIT Roorkee to develop advanced rectifier units for CCS2 chargers and onboard EV chargers for 2, 3, and 4-wheelers, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growth of India’s electric vehicle (EV) industry. This strategic partnership aims to produce high-quality onboard chargers for Indian EVs and contribute to realizing the ‘Make in India’ vision for sustainable EV technology adoption. Prof. Mukesh Pathak from IIT Roorkee highlighted the importance of these collaborations in accelerating EV adoption and transforming transportation and energy consumption in India.

Servotech Power Systems Ltd. (SPSL), a prominent Indian EV charger manufacturer, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). These MOUs signify a collaborative effort to develop state-of-the-art rectifier units for CCS2 chargers and onboard EV chargers designed for 2, 3, and 4-wheelers.

The CCS2 charger rectifier unit is a crucial component that is presently imported. This collaboration aims to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities and foster the growth of the indigenous electric vehicle (EV) industry. Simultaneously, the onboard charger for electric vehicles is a compact and lightweight charging solution designed to be integrated directly into two, three, and four-wheelers, eliminating the need for a separate charging device. This innovative onboard charger, developed through the collaboration with IIT Roorkee, positions Servotech to become a leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the Indian market for two, three, and four-wheeler chargers.

Raman Bhatia, Managing Director of Servotech Power Systems

Raman Bhatia, Managing Director of Servotech Power Systems, expressed, “The market for two, three, and four-wheeler chargers in India holds immense potential. With the current dominance of Chinese components, Servotech is establishing itself as the leading OEM supplier of onboard chargers tailor-made for Indian electric vehicles. We will manufacture high-quality onboard chargers, further strengthening our commitment to making the ‘Make in India’ concept a reality for the adoption of sustainable EV technologies. Our collaboration with a prestigious institution like IIT Roorkee plays a pivotal role in advancing our vision of making India self-reliant and positioning Servotech as a global leader in the EV industry.”

Prof. Mukesh Pathak, Principal Investigator in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee, shared his thoughts on the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with Servotech Power Systems to design and develop EV charging technology. These collaborations underscore our dedication to creating innovative and indigenous solutions for the Indian EV industry. We believe that the EV charging technology resulting from this partnership will play a vital role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and revolutionizing transportation and energy consumption in India.”
