Seco Tools has introduced the Double Turbo 11 milling insert, a new indexable milling solution developed to deliver reliable performance on smaller machines and applications involving shallow depths of cut. The insert is designed to help manufacturers increase productivity, maintain surface finish quality and extend tool life across a range of materials.
The Double Turbo 11 is engineered as a square-shoulder milling insert suitable for face, side and slot milling operations. Its double-sided configuration provides four usable cutting edges, allowing shops to optimise tooling costs while maintaining machining consistency. The geometry has been developed to deliver stable cutting performance at lower depths of cut, making the insert suitable for machining materials such as steel, cast iron and selected superalloys.
A key feature of the insert is its design for lower-horsepower machines. The support face reduces load on the centre screw by approximately 25 percent, improving durability and lowering the risk of insert breakage during operation. Additional practical features include a centre locking screw and clearly marked cutting edges, enabling faster insert indexing and reducing the chances of incorrect placement during tool changes. These design elements help minimise downtime and improve workflow efficiency on the shop floor.
Michael Davies, Product Manager for square shoulder milling at Seco Tools, said the Double Turbo 11 was created to deliver strong machining performance even on compact equipment. He noted that the combination of robust design, multiple cutting edges and simplified handling can help manufacturers achieve consistent results while controlling tooling costs.
The new insert reflects Seco’s continued focus on developing tooling solutions that address everyday machining challenges. By providing dependable cutting performance across multiple materials and applications, the Double Turbo 11 aims to support manufacturers in maintaining productivity and quality standards in modern machining environments.
