Rubamin Private Limited, a global producer of zinc compounds, and Distil, an R&D-focused specialty chemicals platform, have announced a strategic commercial partnership to supply high-performance zinc derivatives to the North American personal care market. Under the agreement, Distil will act as the exclusive partner for co-development, marketing and distribution of Rubamin’s zinc oxide powders, dispersions and specialty derivatives across the United States and Canada.
The collaboration combines Rubamin’s large-scale manufacturing capabilities with Distil’s expertise in application research, product development and global supply chain distribution. Together, the two companies aim to support growing demand for zinc-based ingredients used in sun-care, cosmetic and over-the-counter pharmaceutical formulations.
The partnership will focus on providing high-purity zinc derivatives designed to meet stringent regulatory requirements in North America, including compliance with U.S. FDA and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. These ingredients are widely used in products such as sunscreens, skincare formulations and pharmaceutical preparations where quality, safety and stability are critical.
Atul Dalmia, Chairman of Rubamin Private Limited, said the partnership represents an important step in expanding the company’s presence in global specialty chemical markets. According to Dalmia, Rubamin’s long-standing expertise in hydrometallurgy and sustainable manufacturing practices enables the production of high-purity zinc materials while maintaining minimal environmental impact. He added that collaborating with Distil will allow Rubamin to strengthen its reach in the North American personal care industry and supply sustainably produced zinc derivatives to international customers.
Atanu Agarrwal, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Distil, said the partnership aligns with the company’s mission to create a transparent and high-performance specialty chemical platform for global brands. By connecting advanced manufacturing capabilities in India with demand in North America, the collaboration will provide companies with access to high-quality ingredients while ensuring protection of intellectual property and visibility across the supply chain.
Ankur Shah, Vice President – Commercial at Rubamin, explained that routing all North American inquiries through Distil will allow customers to benefit from dedicated technical support and streamlined logistics management. The partnership is also designed to support a circular and sustainable supply chain that meets increasing global demand for responsibly sourced materials.
Kiro Rizk, Head of Personal Care at Distil, highlighted the growing importance of zinc oxide in modern sun-care products. He noted that advanced particle engineering is essential to achieve transparency, stability and high sun protection performance in cosmetic formulations.
Rubamin currently produces more than 50,000 tons of zinc compounds annually and offers a broad portfolio of zinc-based materials used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agriculture and nutrition. Founded in 2024, Distil focuses on connecting global brands with specialized chemical manufacturing through research-led product development and secure supply chain management.
