Renault India has announced that the all-new Renault Duster has secured a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), reinforcing the company’s focus on delivering high safety standards across its product lineup. The SUV demonstrated strong performance in both adult and child occupant protection categories. It scored 30.49 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection, reflecting its robust safety engineering and comprehensive protection systems.

The certification is based on tests conducted across multiple variants, including EVOLUTION (Turbo 160 MT), TECHNO (Turbo 160 DCT), and ICONIC (Turbo 160 MT). The 5-star rating applies to the entire model range, highlighting Renault’s approach of maintaining consistent safety standards without variation across trims.

Developed with a clear focus on achieving top safety benchmarks, the new Duster is built on the RGMP platform, designed to enhance structural strength and occupant protection. The vehicle has undergone extensive testing, including simulations and real-world crash assessments, to ensure reliable performance under diverse driving conditions.

In addition to its safety credentials, the SUV continues to offer a balanced driving experience, with emphasis on ride comfort, handling stability, and performance suited to Indian roads. The latest safety recognition complements these attributes, positioning the Duster as a well-rounded offering in the segment.

The model is equipped with 35 standard safety features across all variants. These include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), six airbags, hill hold and descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and three-point seat belts for all occupants, along with seat belt reminders.

Further enhancing safety, the Duster incorporates 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot detection. These features are designed to improve driver awareness and reduce the risk of accidents in real-world conditions.

Francisco Hidalgo Marques, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, stated that the Duster combines strong design, performance, fuel efficiency, and now top-tier safety, making it an attractive choice for customers. Dr. V Vikraman, Chief of Renault Engineering, India, added that the rating reflects rigorous engineering, validation, and testing processes focused on real-world usage.

As part of its long-term vision, Renault Group aims to generate €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030, spanning vehicles, components, and R&D services. With ‘FutuREady India,’ Renault Group reinforces its confidence in India’s role as a key driver of its global growth, underlining the country’s importance in shaping the company’s future over the next decade.
