RAYS Flow Control has received its first type approval certificate from the China Classification Society (CCS), covering four categories of marine ball and butterfly valves. The approval was granted in July 2026 and covers trunnion-mounted ball valves, floating ball valves, concentric butterfly valves and eccentric butterfly valves. The certified product range includes valve sizes from 2 inches to 32 inches and pressure ratings from Class 150 to Class 2500.

The approval expands RAYS Flow Control’s marine valve portfolio and supports its plans to serve a wider range of shipboard piping applications. The certified products are designed for shutoff and isolation duties across small, medium and large-diameter piping systems, including applications requiring higher pressure ratings.

The CCS certification process included several stages of technical and manufacturing assessment. RAYS submitted design drawings and calculations for review before completing a factory audit, prototype manufacturing, product improvements and type testing.

According to RAYS, prototype improvement was one of the most demanding stages of the certification process. The company’s engineering team had to translate CCS classification requirements and review comments into specific product modifications while maintaining manufacturability and meeting testing requirements. The successful completion of the process confirms that RAYS has the required manufacturing capabilities and production conditions to manufacture the approved valve categories in accordance with applicable CCS requirements.

The certification is expected to support RAYS Flow Control’s efforts to increase its presence in the marine market. Marine piping systems require reliable valves for controlling and isolating fluid flows across a range of operating conditions, making certification an important requirement for suppliers seeking to participate in shipbuilding and marine infrastructure projects.

The approved range provides RAYS with products covering both conventional and high-pressure applications. The combination of ball and butterfly valve designs allows the company to address different piping requirements across marine systems. RAYS said it will continue manufacturing the certified products in line with CCS approval requirements. The company also plans to incorporate the applicable classification standards into its routine quality-control processes.

The company said the certification will help strengthen its manufacturing and certification systems while supporting customers involved in marine piping projects. The CCS approval also represents an important step in RAYS Flow Control’s efforts to expand beyond its existing markets and develop its marine business. By completing design reviews, factory assessments, prototype development and type testing, the company has established a certified product base for marine applications.

RAYS plans to maintain its focus on consistent manufacturing standards and quality control as it expands its marine valve offering. The company will continue working with customers and project partners to support the requirements of shipboard piping systems. With the newly certified range covering four major valve categories, sizes from 2 to 32 inches and pressure classes from 150 to 2500, RAYS Flow Control is positioned to address a broad range of marine shutoff and isolation requirements. The company said the approval provides a foundation for further development of its marine product portfolio and future participation in marine piping projects requiring CCS-certified equipment.
