Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group has announced an investment of more than ₹600 crore to establish a 50-acre integrated nickel-based superalloy manufacturing facility in Telangana. The announcement was made at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, highlighting the company’s plans to strengthen India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem through indigenous production of critical materials.

The upcoming plant will be among the few integrated facilities in India dedicated to the production of high-performance nickel-based superalloys. It will bring together advanced manufacturing processes, including vacuum melting, forging, heat treatment, vacuum casting, powder metallurgy and precision forming under one roof. With an annual production capacity of nearly 5,000 tonnes, the facility will manufacture round bars, wires, forgings, castings, tungsten carbide powders and other specialised products required by strategic industries. Commercial production is expected to begin in January 2028.

The project will be led by Dr SK Jha, former Chairman and Managing Director of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI). With extensive experience in special metals and strategic materials, Dr Jha will oversee the development of the facility and help build a globally competitive manufacturing platform for advanced alloys in India.

Nickel-based superalloys are essential for manufacturing aero engines, defence equipment, spacecraft, gas turbines, nuclear power systems, oil and gas equipment, medical implants and hydrogen technologies. These materials are valued for their exceptional strength, heat resistance and durability under extreme operating conditions. India currently depends heavily on imports to meet its demand for these specialised alloys, making domestic manufacturing a strategic priority.

The new facility will also support Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group’s strategy of strengthening its supply chain through vertical integration. By producing critical raw materials in-house, the company aims to enhance its capabilities in aerospace, defence and energy manufacturing while supplying advanced materials to India’s growing aerospace and defence industries. The Group has already secured customer support for product and process qualification ahead of commercial production.

The project was formally announced at the Farnborough International Airshow in the presence of Ravi Kota, Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Dr S Dwarakanath, Director General of Aerospace India Association, Vamsi Vikas Ganesula, Managing Director of Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group, Chief Executive Officer Siva Arvinth and UK Head Shaun Newby.

Speaking on the occasion, Vamsi Vikas Ganesula said India cannot achieve complete self-reliance in aerospace and defence manufacturing while depending on imported strategic alloys. He said the investment will not only strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities but also provide Indian industries with reliable access to world-class nickel-based superalloys.

Dr Jha said the project addresses a long-standing need for a dependable domestic source of high-quality superalloys. He added that the facility will focus on meeting international quality standards while reducing India’s dependence on imported materials for critical applications.

Headquartered in Hyderabad, Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group has grown into a global precision engineering and deep-technology company serving the aerospace, defence and energy sectors. With operations across India, the United Kingdom and the United States, and a workforce of more than 1,200 employees, the Group supplies advanced aero-engine components and assemblies to leading global manufacturers, including GE Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Safran and Collins Aerospace. The investment further strengthens the company’s position as a key contributor to India’s growing aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities.
