Powerfleet, Inc, a global provider of AIoT-based software-as-a-service solutions for mobile asset management, has secured a major public sector contract to deliver integrated video intelligence and real-time fleet visibility solutions for South African government departments. The agreement covers a fleet of more than 100,000 vehicles, marking one of the largest deployments in the company’s history.
The multi-year contract is expected to generate significant recurring revenue over a minimum period of five years, following a phased rollout. Initial enrollment from participating government departments has already exceeded internal expectations, signaling strong demand for data-driven fleet management solutions within the public sector.
As part of the deployment, Powerfleet will provide advanced video intelligence capabilities and real-time tracking solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and transparency across government transport systems. The initiative reflects a broader shift toward the adoption of intelligent technologies to modernize critical infrastructure and improve service delivery.
The project also strengthens Powerfleet’s existing partnership with telecommunications provider MTN, which will support nationwide implementation through secure connectivity and managed network infrastructure. This collaboration ensures reliable data transmission and seamless integration across large-scale public sector operations.
Steve Towe, Chief Executive Officer of Powerfleet, described the contract as a significant milestone for the company, highlighting the growing scale at which public sector organizations are adopting advanced fleet technologies. He noted that large programs of this nature typically lead to long-term relationships and open opportunities for further adoption of software and analytics solutions.
Tumi Chamayou, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN, emphasized the importance of the partnership in delivering secure, enterprise-grade connectivity. He added that the collaboration will play a key role in advancing the modernization of South Africa’s transport infrastructure.
