Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), a pioneer in high-voltage ICs for efficient power conversion, has unveiled new details on its 1250 V and 1700 V PowiGaN™ gallium-nitride technology aimed at powering next-generation AI data centers built on 800 VDC architectures. The company’s latest white paper, released during the 2025 OCP Global Summit in San Jose, highlights how PowiGaN technology can meet the growing power-density and efficiency needs of large-scale computing infrastructure. NVIDIA also shared an update on the 800 VDC framework at the event, reinforcing industry momentum toward high-voltage architectures.
Power Integrations’ 1250 V PowiGaN HEMTs deliver efficiency levels exceeding 98%, offering a compelling alternative to stacked 650 V GaN FETs and 1200 V SiC components. The white paper underscores their proven reliability in the field and explains how they simplify system design by replacing multiple lower-voltage devices with a single high-voltage switch. These advantages support the rapid deployment of megawatt-scale racks and streamline power delivery for AI and cloud infrastructure.
In addition, the company spotlighted its InnoMux™2-EP ICs, which feature an integrated 1700 V PowiGaN switch capable of handling 1000 VDC input. The device’s SR ZVS topology achieves over 90.3% efficiency at 12 V output in liquid-cooled, fan-less environments—making it a strong fit for auxiliary power supplies in 800 VDC data centers.
“With rack power demands climbing rapidly, shifting to 800 VDC architectures enables more compact designs, reduces copper usage and improves energy utilization,” said Roland Saint-Pierre, Vice President of Product Development at Power Integrations. “Our 1250 V and 1700 V PowiGaN devices are engineered to deliver the performance, reliability and density required by the world’s most demanding data centers.”
Power Integrations remains the only company currently shipping 1250 V and 1700 V GaN switches in volume. Since introducing its first GaN ICs in 2018, the firm has shipped more than 175 million units across diverse applications, including EVs, data centers and fast-charging solutions.
Power Integrations, Inc is a global leader in semiconductor technologies for high-voltage power conversion.
