Electric mobility manufacturer Omega Seiki is preparing to expand its portfolio by entering the electric bus segment. The company has announced plans to introduce a nine-metre low-floor electric bus, targeted for launch in 2026, primarily catering to state-run transport services.

The move aligns with the growing demand for sustainable public transportation solutions among government bodies across India. The new electric bus will be aimed at fleet operations under government contracts, where the company aims to capture up to 40% market share within its segment.

“This electric bus is designed to meet the high expectations of public transport systems. It features a high-performance 800W motor with 190 kW of peak output, paired with a 195-kWh NMC battery that delivers a range of 200 kilometers per charge,” said Uday Narang, Founder and Chairman of Omega Seiki. “The vehicle supports rapid charging—reaching 80% capacity in just 30 minutes—and can also be fully charged in six hours via standard charging, giving operators flexibility and efficiency.”

Omega Seiki currently has an annual production capacity of 800 electric buses and is also working on launching a new manufacturing facility in the UAE by the end of 2025. This international hub will support demand from markets in Africa and West Asia, where electric commercial vehicles are seeing increasing interest.

“Our strategy is to serve both domestic and international needs by offering practical, intelligent, and scalable electric transport solutions. With this dual-market approach, we are committed to reducing emissions in both public and commercial mobility,” Mr Narang added.

A recent report from Frost & Sullivan suggests that electric bus manufacturers will revisit their strategies in 2025, focusing on securing urban contracts under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme while also tapping into opportunities in smaller towns and private sectors. Omega Seiki already holds a strong presence in the electric mobility space with over 85% localisation in its three-wheeler lineup.

The company operates across multiple categories, including electric two-wheelers, light commercial vehicles, and electric trucks. Key models from Omega Seiki’s portfolio include the Range+, Stream, Stream City, and Stream City NRG.

Omega Seiki, a leader in the electric vehicle industry, is dedicated to delivering innovative and sustainable mobility solutions. With a focus on electric two, three, and four-wheelers, OSM is driving the transition towards cleaner and greener transportation.
