Ola Electric Mobility Ltd is gearing up to introduce its first electric motorcycle in the first half of the financial year 2026. The company, which has been working on a lineup of four electric motorcycles, aims to expand into the mass-market motorcycle segment in the long term.
“We expect to start delivering the motorcycles in the first half of fiscal 2026,” stated the company in its DRHP for IPO. Last year, Ola Electric unveiled four concept electric motorcycles: Diamondhead, Adventure, Roadster, and Cruiser.
“In the future, we plan to broaden our product range to include mass-market motorcycles, catering to a wider range of consumers across different types of products and price points,” the company added. Recently, Ola Electric secured patents for three electric motorcycle designs and a removable electric battery.
While electric scooters are gaining popularity among consumers, the electric motorcycle segment remains relatively small, dominated by startups like Revolt and Ultraviolette. “Due to limited choices, electric motorcycles have less than 1% penetration, mainly in the over Rs 1 lakh price category. With advancements in R&D and technology, we expect electric motorcycles to gain traction across popular price segments,” noted Ola Electric.
In a related development, Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is also planning to launch electric motorcycles. Their portfolio includes six models under the Vida range and four models in partnership with Zero Motors, starting from 2025-26.
Ola Electric currently leads the electric two-wheeler segment with over 30% market share, competing with Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, and Ather. The company offers three electric scooters: S1 Pro, S1 Air, and S1 X, with varying battery capacities.
Last year, Ola Electric introduced its second-generation platform, enhancing features and reducing material costs compared to the first-generation platform. The vehicles are manufactured at Ola Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, with an annual capacity of one million units.
To further reduce costs, Ola Electric is setting up a “Giga Factory” in Krishnagiri for cell manufacturing, aiming to enhance competitiveness in the price-sensitive market.
