Nvidia Corp has partnered with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries to establish advanced artificial intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure and an innovation center in India, according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. This collaboration will see Reliance’s new data center utilizing Nvidia’s latest Blackwell AI chips.
Nvidia, which already operates in six Indian cities, collaborates with local enterprises, cloud providers, and startups to develop AI infrastructure. The company’s AI computing stack, powered by its most advanced GPUs, high-performance networking, and software platforms, will be at the core of this development.
During the Nvidia AI Summit 2024, Ambani and Huang discussed India’s significant potential in AI and its role as an emerging global leader. The partnership aims to create a strong AI foundation in the country, which Ambani believes will not only boost India’s domestic capabilities but also position it as a major player in the global intelligence market.
“India will begin with the very best that Nvidia has to offer,” Ambani remarked. Huang further elaborated that the collaboration will focus on creating AI applications tailored for Indian consumers. The partnership also includes setting up an innovation center, though the exact scale of the infrastructure has not yet been detailed.
Highlighting India’s role in Nvidia’s success, Huang mentioned, “India is already world-class in chip design. Nvidia’s chips are designed here in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, and a significant portion of our workforce is Indian.”
Ambani noted that India is on the verge of entering a new era of intelligence, driven by technologies like AI and the ambitions of its people. “India will become one of the largest intelligence markets, powered by its talent and drive.”
He also emphasized India’s leading digital infrastructure, with extensive 4G, 5G, and broadband networks, and shared that Reliance Jio is the world’s largest data provider, offering data at just 15 cents per GB compared to $5 per GB in the U.S. “In a few years, just as we revolutionized data, India will astonish the world with its intelligence achievements,” Ambani predicted.
