Norton Motorcycles has achieved a significant milestone with the roll-out of the first Atlas motorcycle from TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing facility in Hosur, India. The production commencement marks Norton’s entry into the middleweight adventure and sport-touring motorcycle segments and sets the stage for the model’s global debut next month.
The occasion was commemorated with a ceremonial roll-out attended by Dr Sutapa Choudhury, British Deputy High Commissioner for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, highlighting the strong industrial partnership between the United Kingdom and India. The Atlas programme combines Norton’s design and engineering expertise developed at its headquarters in Solihull, UK, with TVS Motor Company’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and global production infrastructure.
The Atlas and Atlas GT represent one of the most important additions to Norton’s modern portfolio. Developed for riders across international markets, the two models expand the brand’s presence into adventure and sport-touring categories, which continue to witness strong demand worldwide. The launch follows the introduction of the Manx R superbike and forms part of Norton’s broader product expansion strategy unveiled at EICMA 2025.
Designed and engineered in the United Kingdom, the Atlas range is powered by a 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine featuring a distinctive 270-degree firing order. The motorcycles are built around a lightweight steel trellis chassis and equipped with an extensive suite of rider-focused technologies, including a Bosch six-axis inertial measurement unit, multiple riding modes, fully adjustable KYB suspension, cornering cruise control, an 8-inch TFT display, and smartphone connectivity through the Norton Rider application.
While the Atlas is configured for adventure-focused riding with a 19-inch front wheel, the Atlas GT adopts a road-oriented setup featuring 17-inch wheels at both ends. Both models share the same engineering platform while catering to different riding preferences.
Production at the Hosur facility reflects the complementary strengths of Norton and TVS Motor Company. With Norton’s Solihull plant operating at full capacity manufacturing the Manx R, Hosur provides the scale, quality systems and supply-chain support required for the Atlas programme.
The Atlas will be launched globally next month, with sales expected to commence during the third quarter of 2026. The model will also be introduced in India later this year through TVS Paddock, the company’s upcoming premium retail network designed to deliver an elevated ownership experience that reflects Norton’s heritage, craftsmanship and premium positioning.
