The Color Vision Book for 2024-2025 was unveiled by Nippon Paint India (Decorative) during an event at Outdoor Connections in Bengaluru. This project is the product of Nippon Paint’s partnership with Dr Kaustav Sengupta, a renowned color expert from the NIFT, who also serves as a Color Consultant for Nippon Paint India.

For the first time in its history, the second edition of Color Vision by Nippon Paint presents forecasts for color palettes tailored to youth and regional divisions, reflecting India’s rich cultural diversity. In a nation renowned for its vibrant tapestry of cultures like India, color holds significant sway over emotional, social, and cultural realms.
This visionary system, developed by Dr Kaustav Sengupta, employs a copyrighted method centered around the innovative ‘Color Foresight Cube’ (Sengupta, 2018). This cube utilizes signals and drivers to discern color trends, indicating shifts and comprehending plausible color directions based on emotional, bio-behavioral, cultural, and social cues.
Each meta tag, whether social or bio-behavioral, is linked to a specific color and integrated into the cube. Through advanced technology, the cube generates patterns across three segments: north, south, and youth. These patterns are then analyzed and synthesized into color schemes that encapsulate the prevailing mindset within these segments.
In a groundbreaking study, researchers have identified 12 key archetypes that reflect diverse human needs and aspirations. Among these archetypes are the Heal archetype, which signifies a longing for comfort, represented by soothing shades like Sunken Forest and Cloud Grass. Another prominent archetype is Bloomers, characterized by a desire for creative expression, embodied in vibrant hues such as Leap of Faith and Shocking Yellow.
The Hive archetype reflects the need for cohabitation and bonding, symbolized by warm tones like Orange Soda and Electricity. Additionally, the Soulcore archetype delves into self-discovery, represented by introspective shades like Marry Go Round and Darkest Hour.
This unique forecasting process, known as Color Vision, spanned over 16 months and analyzed approximately 30,000 meta-tags. The color cues were meticulously curated through multiple focus groups comprising influencers, color experts, and practitioners. Over 55 catalysts from major cities across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore, were actively involved in various stages of the research.
In a recent event, Dr Kaustav Sengupta from NIFT expressed delight at the unveiling of the second edition of Nippon Paint Color Vision, which highlights India’s inaugural zonal and youth color forecast.
