Nippon Paint, a paint manufacturer in Asia, recently hosted the Architectural and Civil Engineering Design Awards 2023 (A.C.E.D Awards) to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievements in the architecture and design industry. The awards, now in their third successful year, were designed to recognize the talents of individuals in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, showcasing their contributions to the field. The A.C.E.D Awards, designed to support the architectural ecosystem, underwent meticulous evaluation of participants based on criteria encompassing design, functionality, originality, innovation, aesthetics, sustainability, color selection, cost optimization, sensorial and spatial experiences, along with project narratives. The diverse categories ensured an inclusive event, where winners received recognition for their excellence.

In addition to the awards, the event had also marked the launch of Nippon Paint’s Indoor Thermal Comfort Coating and Insulation Solutions, reflecting the significance of indoor thermal insulation for future sustainability. Collaborating with subject matter experts familiar with Indian climate conditions, Nippon Paint aims to contribute to a sustainable nation. The occasion also witnessed the introduction of the Creative Colour Awards by Padma Shri C N Raghavendran from CRN Architects, providing a platform for architects, interior designers, and space owners to showcase innovative and purposeful use of colors in spatial design.

The prestigious ‘Project of the Year’ award for 2023 was clinched by KSM Architects and Green Sketch Consultants in the Residential and Commercial categories, respectively. Commenting on the occasion, Mahesh Anand, President – Decorative Paint, Nippon Paint (India), highlighted the awards, “as a testament to innovation, creativity, and excellence—a stage where remarkable projects and outstanding contributions are brought to light. The achievements of these visionary individuals are not confined to present success; instead, they serve as a spark, igniting inspiration for the extraordinary feats that await in the future. The jury panel comprised esteemed members including Manoj Ladhad (Co Founder, Architecture paradigm), Aruna R (Business Leader, Space Matrix), M Anand (Deputy Executive Director, Indian Green Building Council), CR Raju (Founder and Principal Architect, M/s C R Raju Associates), Ramalingam Natrajan (Founder and Principal Architect, Ramy Design Associates), Venkat (Founder, Nataraj and Venkat Associates), and Varuna Arvind (Co Founder, Arvind Varuna associates).

The winners of the A.C.E.D Awards 2023 were announced across various categories. In the Best Colour Palette category, M. Mahesh Kumar claimed the top spot in the Commercial segment, with Venkata Ramani as the runner-up. Dwellion Architects secured victory in the Residential division. Moving on to the Inspiring Interior Design section, Vijayanandan emerged victorious in the Commercial Built category, while Vijay Krishna achieved success in the Commercial Unbuilt segment. In the Residential Built group, Suraksha Acharya took the top position, and Arun Raja Mohan was the runner-up. Mahima Suresh secured the first position in the Residential Unbuilt category. The Innovative Project of the Year recognized Ar. Raghunathan as the winner and Sahira Begum as the runner-up in the Residential segment, while in the Commercial segment, Magesh S claimed victory, and Nagaraja GP was the runner-up. Finally, in the Project of the Year category, Ar. KSM Architects emerged as the winner in the Residential segment, with A Mohan Raj as the runner-up. In the Commercial segment, Krithika secured victory, and Samhita was the runner-up.
