Renault India has announced that the next-generation Renault Duster has completed more than one million kilometres of testing across three continents, marking a major development milestone ahead of its launch. The testing program exposed the SUV to temperatures ranging from –23°C to 55°C, with the aim of validating its performance across varied road and climate conditions.

The testing programme covered a wide range of environments, including extreme cold, high heat, high altitudes, and demanding road surfaces. Renault said the process was designed to ensure the vehicle is suited to Indian driving conditions while meeting global standards for durability and safety.

As part of the endurance programme, the vehicle was driven on research and development tracks, proving grounds, and public roads worldwide, accumulating one million kilometres over long-term testing cycles. High-altitude testing was conducted in the Himalayas, including routes in Leh-Ladakh and a final run to Khardung La, located at an altitude of 5,602 metres. These tests were intended to assess engine performance, braking, and stability in low-oxygen conditions.

The vehicle was also subjected to temperature extremes, with validation tests carried out in sub-zero climates and high ambient heat to assess cooling systems, cabin comfort, and component reliability. Additional evaluations included dust tunnel testing and water-wading trials to confirm sealing effectiveness and protection of critical components.

In India, the Duster underwent extensive road testing in cities and on dedicated test facilities such as NATRAX, ARAI, GARC, and ICAT. These trials focused on ride quality, suspension durability, performance over uneven surfaces, and operation in congested traffic conditions. To fine-tune handling and driving behaviour, Renault also conducted vehicle tuning exercises in Brazil, Romania, France, China, and the Czech Republic.

Stephane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India, said the testing programme was carried out to ensure the vehicle is prepared for real-world use in demanding environments. He noted that the extensive validation reflects Renault’s focus on long-term reliability, safety, and performance.

The new Renault Duster is scheduled to be unveiled on 26 January 2026. Renault India Private Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault SAS, France. The company manufactures vehicles in its Oragadam facility near Chennai, which has an annual capacity of 480,000 units.
