Mphasis, an AI-led technology solutions provider, has received validation from SBTi Services for its near-term and long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. The targets set out the company’s plans to reduce emissions across its operations and value chain, using FY2024-25 as the baseline year.
Mphasis aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by FY2050. Its validated near-term targets include reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 66.01% by FY2036 from the FY2025 baseline. The company also aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel- and energy-related activities, business travel, employee commuting and upstream leased assets by 66.33% per US dollar of value added over the same period. For the longer term, Mphasis has set a target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 90% by FY2050 from the FY2025 baseline. It also plans to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 97% per unit of value added by the same year.
Deepa Nagraj, Senior Vice President and Global Head of ESG, Sparkle Innovation Ecosystem and Communications at Mphasis, said climate action required collective commitment from organisations. She said the validation strengthened the company’s efforts to include environmental responsibility in its operations, growth plans and business capabilities.
The company is also working towards carbon neutrality across its facilities and operations by FY2030. Renewable energy currently accounts for 57.82% of its total energy requirements, according to Mphasis. The company said its sustainability performance had also received external recognition. It received a Silver Medal from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 15% of assessed companies, and recorded a CRISIL Core ESG score of 73 in FY2026, compared with 69 in the previous assessment.
SBTi is a global organisation that helps companies establish greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with climate science and the Paris Agreement. Its validation process assesses corporate targets against applicable criteria covering Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. Mphasis said the validated targets provide measurable milestones for reducing emissions across its business and supply chain as it works towards its net-zero goal.
