Motul India has announced the launch of IPONE in the Indian market, introducing the French premium motorcycle lubricant brand to a rapidly growing community of performance-focused riders across the country. With strong inspiration drawn from Japanese rider culture and manga aesthetics, IPONE enters India as a premium motorcycle engine oil brand aimed at a new generation of riders seeking a combination of performance, style and identity. The launch reflects the changing dynamics of India’s two-wheeler market, where younger consumers increasingly associate mobility products with lifestyle and personal expression.
Backed by Motul’s global expertise in high-performance lubrication technology, the new IPONE range has been designed exclusively for motorcycles and performance-oriented riding applications. The company stated that the new product lineup has been structured around the concept of the Japanese judo belt progression system, with each lubricant category representing a different level of riding intensity and performance requirement.
The flagship “Black Belt” Racing range is led by the product Shogun, developed for high-performance riding conditions and motorsport applications. Inspired by Japanese engineering and racing culture, the product line has established a strong presence in international motorcycle racing and currently supports the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
The “Blue Belt” Sport range consists of fully synthetic oils developed for riders demanding enhanced engine output and durability during both road and off-road riding conditions.
The “Green Belt” Advanced range offers semi-synthetic formulations intended for versatile everyday usage, balancing engine protection with cost efficiency for daily riders. Completing the portfolio is the “Yellow Belt” Standard range, designed to deliver dependable lubrication performance at an accessible price point while maintaining quality standards across entry-level offerings.
Speaking at the launch, Nagendra Pai, Chief Executive Officer of Motul India and South Asia, said the company continues to witness a strong shift in rider preferences toward premium motorcycles, adventure riding and performance-led experiences. He noted that premium and synthetic lubricants already account for a significant share of Motul’s sales portfolio globally, highlighting the growing importance of advanced lubrication technologies in modern motorcycles.
According to Mr Pai, the introduction of IPONE in India represents a strategic move that combines advanced lubricant technology with a meaningful premiumisation approach rather than focusing purely on cosmetic branding. He added that Motul’s expanding offline and online distribution network across India will support IPONE’s availability and accessibility among performance enthusiasts and premium motorcycle owners nationwide.
Commenting on the launch, Milind Acharya, Chief Marketing Officer of Motul India and South Asia, said younger riders today increasingly choose brands that align not only with performance expectations but also with their lifestyle and personality. He stated that IPONE combines advanced PAO and Ester-based lubrication technologies with a visually distinctive identity inspired by Japanese culture and modern rider communities.
Mr Acharya also highlighted the belt-based product classification system, describing it as a simplified and intuitive approach that helps riders select the right lubricant according to their riding style and performance requirements.
The company plans to initially introduce the IPONE range across six core markets and fourteen key cities, supported by digital-led campaigns aimed at engaging India’s growing base of premium motorcycle enthusiasts. Industry experts note that India’s premium motorcycle segment has witnessed rapid expansion in recent years, driven by rising disposable incomes, growth in adventure touring communities and increasing consumer interest in performance-oriented products.
As motorcycles become more technologically advanced and riding communities continue to evolve, demand for specialised lubricants designed for performance, endurance and engine protection is expected to rise steadily. With the launch of IPONE, Motul India is strengthening its presence in the premium motorcycle ecosystem while targeting younger riders seeking a combination of technology, identity and riding performance.
