Minebea Intec, a global leader in industrial weighing and inspection technologies, is expanding its product line with the launch of the Dylight S X-ray inspection system. The food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries are constantly adapting to new regulatory requirements, including pre-packaging ordinances and supplier audits, which demand comprehensive documentation.
Additionally, the shift towards sustainable packaging materials has increased the need for advanced X-ray inspection technologies. While companies must invest in cutting-edge solutions to stay compliant and competitive, consumers are not always willing to pay higher prices for everyday goods. The Dylight S X-ray inspection system addresses this challenge by delivering top-tier product safety and quality assurance at a cost-effective price point.
Equipped with sideshooter technology, the Dylight S ensures precise foreign body detection, particularly in products with light or complex packaging. This advanced X-ray system reliably identifies both metallic and non-metallic contaminants—including glass, rubber, stones, and plastic—across various container types such as PET bottles, Tetra Paks, and plastic cans.
In addition to contaminant detection, the system provides completeness checks and fill level inspections. “The Dylight S stands out for its extremely compact design, allowing seamless integration into existing production lines,” says Mengqi Liang, Product Manager at Minebea Intec. Another key advantage is its monoblock generator, which eliminates the need for an external transformer, reducing technical complexity and lowering total cost of ownership (TCO).
Minebea Intec has introduced autonomous parameter adjustment in the Dylight S, streamlining product setup and inspection processes while minimizing false rejects. This feature enhances production efficiency and improves detection accuracy. Additionally, the system’s innovative image acquisition software generates a secondary X-ray image from the original scan, allowing operators to refine brightness, contrast, and scaling to detect previously missed foreign bodies. The software was developed with a strong focus on user-friendliness, ensuring intuitive operation in diverse applications.
Designed for seamless digital integration, the Dylight S supports various interfaces, including OPC-UA for standardized communication and compatibility with Minebea Intec’s SPC@Enterprise software for statistical process control and data analysis. Remote access via TeamViewer simplifies maintenance and service operations. “With its combination of compact design, state-of-the-art technology, and low total cost of ownership, the Dylight S sets a new benchmark in X-ray inspection,” says Liang.
