Mills CNC is set to launch two new DN Solutions multi-tasking machine tools for the UK and Irish markets at its two-day advanced technology event, The One Show. The event will focus on one-hit machining and will take place at Mills CNC’s Campus facility in Leamington. The programme is designed to give component manufacturers an opportunity to see how multi-axis and multi-tasking machine tools can improve productivity, reduce machining steps and increase process efficiency.
The two machines being launched are the second-generation DN Solutions DVF 5000 simultaneous 5-axis machining centre and the DNX 2100SB entry-level multi-tasking mill-turn machine. Both machines are equipped with DN Solutions’ CUFOS CNC control interface. The DNX 2100 range is designed to provide manufacturers with more machining capabilities than conventional sub-spindle, Y-axis turning centres while offering a lower entry cost than advanced mill-turn platforms. The DNX 2100 machines feature two opposing 5,000 rpm spindles, a B-axis milling spindle operating at up to 12,000 rpm and a 40-tool automatic tool changer, with a 60-tool option available. Integrated thermal compensation is also included.
Tony Dale, Group CEO at Mills CNC, said the DNX 2100 range gives manufacturers access to multi-tasking technology that can help them compete for complex, high-mix and low-volume machining work. The second-generation DVF 5000 is designed to improve productivity and precision in one-hit machining applications. Compared with its predecessor, the new machine offers faster rapids of 42 metres per minute, acceleration and deceleration of 0.4g and tool-to-tool changeover times of 1.3 seconds.
The machine is equipped with an oil-cooled spindle system. Customers can choose from a standard 18.5 kW, 15,000 rpm directly coupled spindle, a 30 kW, 15,000 rpm high-torque spindle or a 37 kW, 20,000 rpm high-speed spindle. The DVF 5000 Mk II also features a larger 630 mm diameter rotary tilting table, allowing workpieces of up to 600 mm in diameter and 500 mm in height to be accommodated.
Advanced thermal compensation, roller-type linear motion guideways and Intelligent Kinematic Compensation are designed to maintain machining accuracy during extended production runs. The One Show will also feature established DN Solutions machines, including the SMX 2100SB mill-turn machine, DVF 4000 compact 5-axis machining centre and TT 1300SYY twin-turret, twin-spindle turning centre.
Mills CNC’s Training Academy will demonstrate its digital twin technology, including a DVF 4000 5-axis machining centre with Siemens Sinumerik One CNC control. The academy will also showcase operator, programmer and CAD-CAM training programmes covering Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain systems.
Mills CNC said the event has been designed to help manufacturers understand how one-hit machining and advanced machine tools can improve competitiveness amid changing economic conditions and supply chain pressures. The company expects the technology showcase and machine launches to provide manufacturers with practical examples of how multi-axis and multi-tasking equipment can reduce production times and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
