Entering into the construction of the Multi-Modal Logistics Parks across India, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) signed a pact to cooperate with the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under the Bharatmala Pariyojna to improve the logistics efficiency for goods procured from ports.

Dignified as the partnership of Maharashtra and Central Government, an MoU has been signed during the conference in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transportation and Highways Minister to establish five more Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) across the state of Maharashtra.
Pertaining to the investment opportunities in highway, logistics, and transport, the MMLPs will be set up in Mumbai’s Metropolitan Region, Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Dighi Port Industrial Estate. Enchanted as a spoke of the Hub’s wheel, the parks will bring down logistics cost by at least half and thus, enabling easy movement of the vehicles.
Valid for five years and being extendable, the agreements utters the land privilege for the MMLPs to be provided by the MIDC along with the external road connectivity to be provided by National Highways Logistics Management (NHLML) and RVNL.

As per the reports, the government proposal, worth Rs 50, 000 cr is to set up the 35 MMLPs at the strategic locations which can enable seamless logistics activities to reduce imports and boost the export out of the country.
The role of RVNL will be for the design, planning, feasibility study, DPR, implementation, and commissioning of the track connectivity work for the MMLPs
While the model concession agreement for the MMLPs has been finalized, MMLPs are forecasted to be functional soon in Nagpur, Chennai, and Assam. The bids for the MMLPs in Bangalore and Indore will be invited in the next 2-3 months. The parks will be the part of Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model. The agreement also facilitates seamless functionalities such as warehousing solutions, customer clearances, and IT services.
