Merrifield Machinery Solutions (MMS) is expanding its operations in West Michigan as the authorised distributor for Hurco Companies, Inc. The expansion will provide manufacturers across the region with access to Hurco CNC machine tools, applications expertise, technical support and an expanded local service network.
The company’s expanded operation will support more than 1,500 existing Hurco and Takumi machine installations throughout West Michigan. Services will include machine installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, parts support, programming assistance, operator training and technical guidance.
Merrifield Machinery is also establishing a West Michigan facility at the former Braun Machinery location. The facility will include a customer showroom and demonstration space where manufacturers can examine machine tool technology, discuss production requirements and evaluate potential manufacturing solutions. The expansion is intended to strengthen local support for manufacturers facing increasing production demands, skilled-labour shortages and pressure to improve machine utilisation and operating efficiency.
Nick Merrifield, President of Merrifield Machinery Solutions, said, “This is a significant expansion for Merrifield Machinery and, more importantly, for the manufacturers we serve in West Michigan. We are bringing together Hurco’s proven CNC technology, an expanded team of experienced professionals, and a strong local presence to provide customers with the level of support they expect and deserve.”
Merrifield Machinery acknowledged the role played by Braun Machinery in establishing Hurco and Takumi equipment across West Michigan. The company said Braun had developed long-standing relationships with regional manufacturers and built a strong foundation for customer service and technical support.
Merrifield Machinery plans to build on these relationships while expanding the range of services available to existing customers. The expanded operation also includes experienced service and applications professionals who have worked with manufacturers in the region. Their knowledge of Hurco equipment, machining applications and local customer requirements is expected to support continuity of service while strengthening the company’s technical capabilities.
The service offering will cover machine setup and startup, field repairs, applications and programming support, maintenance planning, spare parts, process improvement and operator training. The team will also assist manufacturers in selecting suitable equipment configurations and improving performance throughout a machine’s working life.
The new showroom will feature Hurco machines alongside other machine tool technologies represented by Merrifield Machinery. Manufacturers will be able to view equipment, discuss machining requirements and explore solutions without travelling outside the region.
Anthony Holley, Executive Vice President of Merrifield Machinery, said, “Our goal is simple: give manufacturers the technology, expertise, and local support they need to be successful. We are excited to expand our presence in West Michigan and build on the strong foundation already established in the region. This is an investment in our customers, our team, and the future of Michigan manufacturing.”
The company’s expanded presence combines equipment access with local applications knowledge and after-sales service. This approach is intended to help manufacturers address production challenges, improve machine utilisation and maintain reliable operations.
Hurco Companies develops computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools and related technology for manufacturing applications. Through the expanded distribution arrangement, Merrifield Machinery will strengthen access to Hurco equipment and technical support for manufacturers throughout West Michigan. The expansion represents a continued investment in regional manufacturing support, with a focus on providing customers with machinery, applications expertise and service throughout the equipment lifecycle.
