Matrix Geo Solutions Limited, a geospatial technology and engineering consultancy, has been awarded a Letter of Acceptance by the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (MPSEDC) for conducting the Narmada Parikrama Survey. The project, valued at INR 5.14 crore, will be executed over a six-month period and marks a significant milestone in the application of advanced geospatial technologies for large-scale infrastructure and environmental planning.
The mandate involves comprehensive aerial data acquisition across approximately 2,400 square kilometres of the Narmada river corridor using drones, aircraft, and helicopters equipped with advanced LiDAR systems. The initiative aims to generate high-resolution mapping, terrain modelling, and hydrological insights that will support the preparation of Detailed Project Reports and long-term development planning.
Originating from Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh, the Narmada river spans over 1,300 kilometres across multiple states before draining into the Arabian Sea. The river corridor presents unique geographical challenges, including steep gorges, dense forests, and expansive plains, making traditional surveying methods complex and time-intensive. By deploying cutting-edge geospatial technologies, Matrix Geo aims to deliver precise and scalable data solutions tailored to these conditions.
A key outcome of the project will be the creation of a comprehensive Digital Twin of the Narmada corridor. This digital ecosystem will enable real-time monitoring, data-driven planning, and informed decision-making for multiple government departments. It will also assist in identifying encroachments, assessing ecological sensitivities, and addressing infrastructure gaps, while supporting the planning and management of pilgrimage routes.
The Narmada Parikrama holds deep cultural and spiritual significance, attracting thousands of devotees annually. Through this initiative, the Government of Madhya Pradesh seeks to enhance pilgrimage infrastructure, promote eco-tourism, and maintain the ecological balance of the region.
Amit Sharma, Whole Time Director of Matrix Geo Solutions Limited, stated that the project represents a convergence of spirituality, sustainability, and technology. He emphasized the company’s commitment to building an accurate and intelligent geospatial framework that supports both policy development and pilgrimage management.
The project will integrate drone-based surveying with GIS, remote sensing, and data analytics to create a unified data layer for departments such as forest and environment, water resources, tourism, urban and rural development, and disaster management. Matrix Geo Solutions continues to strengthen its portfolio in executing complex geospatial projects across infrastructure, environmental, and cultural landscapes, while advancing the adoption of Drone-as-a-Service and remote sensing technologies in India.
