MANN+HUMMEL has inaugurated its new Global Technology & Innovation Center in Tumkur, Karnataka, strengthening India’s position as a strategic global hub for advanced filtration technologies and engineering innovation. The new facility represents a major milestone in the company’s international growth strategy and becomes MANN+HUMMEL’s largest development center outside Germany.

The state-of-the-art center has been established to accelerate product innovation, engineering excellence and customer-focused development across mobility, industrial and environmental applications. The facility integrates advanced research laboratories, testing infrastructure, digital engineering capabilities and data analytics under a unified platform to support the development of next-generation filtration solutions.

The company said the Tumkur center will play a critical role in driving faster product development cycles, enhancing collaboration with global customers and expanding innovation capabilities across clean air, water purification and industrial filtration technologies. Leveraging India’s strong engineering ecosystem, the center is expected to serve as a key global innovation engine for the company.

Kurk Wilks, President and CEO of MANN+HUMMEL Group, said the launch of the facility marks an important step in the company’s long-term technology and sustainability roadmap. He noted that India’s deep engineering talent pool and rapidly evolving innovation landscape make it an ideal location for the company’s largest development hub outside its home market in Germany.

The company also highlighted that the facility will support its sustainability-focused initiatives by developing energy-efficient filtration systems, reducing lifecycle emissions and promoting circular economy practices through the use of recycled materials and environmentally responsible product design. The center will contribute to solutions addressing air quality, industrial emissions, water purification and access to clean water.

In addition to the Tumkur expansion, MANN+HUMMEL announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pune to strengthen its footprint in one of India’s fastest-growing industrial regions. The upcoming site will cater to automotive, heavy-duty, manufacturing and industrial customers through an integrated production setup for advanced filtration systems.

The combined investment across the Tumkur and Pune initiatives is expected to exceed ₹100 crore, underlining the company’s long-term commitment to India. MANN+HUMMEL currently employs around 1,250 people across its Indian operations and expects the new projects to generate an additional 300 to 400 jobs over the next year.

With manufacturing facilities in Tumkur and Bawal, a global innovation center in Bengaluru and a planned facility in Pune, the company is building a strong pan-India operational network. This expanded footprint is expected to improve responsiveness, strengthen customer engagement and support faster delivery of localized solutions across the country.

India remains one of MANN+HUMMEL’s fastest-growing markets and a key innovation destination, accounting for more than one-third of the company’s global research and development workforce. Through continued investments in engineering, manufacturing and talent development, the company aims to further strengthen its leadership in filtration technology while supporting cleaner and more sustainable industrial growth worldwide.
