Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced plans to sell 5,000 units per month of its newly launched electric models, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, starting March. The automaker aims to make premium electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible by addressing key challenges such as affordability and range anxiety.

Unveiled in November, the BE 6e and XEV 9e are ground-up electric models priced between ₹18.9 lakh and ₹30.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The BE 6e boasts a range of 682 kilometers, while the XEV 9e offers 656 kilometers, both designed to alleviate buyers’ concerns about driving range.

“Our mission is to democratize EV technology and make game-changing features accessible to a broader audience,” said Veejay Nakra, President of M&M’s Automotive Division. He added that the company is introducing innovative financing solutions to make these premium vehicles more affordable.

To support this initiative, M&M is setting up a production capacity of 90,000 units annually at its Chakan plant, with the ability to scale up to 1.2 lakh units. Additionally, the company has allocated ₹16,000 crore in capital expenditure for its EV business during FY22-27.

M&M is also focusing on enhancing customer experience by onboarding 500 specialists from luxury and premium brands for pre-purchase test drives and 400 tech experts for ongoing support. The Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai will provide dedicated technological assistance. By combining innovative design, extended driving ranges, and customer-centric services, Mahindra aims to make a significant impact on the growing EV market in India.
