Mahindra Powerol, a division of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, has been recognised as the top diesel generator set (genset) manufacturer in India for FY25. According to the latest DG Tracker report by Frost & Sullivan, Mahindra Powerol achieved the number one position in market share by volume, accounting for 23.8% of total sales—surpassing the previous long-term market leader.
In FY25, the Indian diesel genset industry reported total sales of 1,51,634 units. Mahindra Powerol’s consistent performance across all four quarters played a pivotal role in securing its leadership position. Growth was bolstered by strong sales of CPCB IV+ compliant gensets, developed to align with the most recent emission standards. Continued dominance in the Telecom segment—where the company has held over 55% market share for more than 15 years—also contributed significantly. Additionally, Mahindra Powerol expanded its footprint in the competitive Retail segment, further enhancing its overall performance.
Sanjay Jain, Senior Vice President and Business Head at Mahindra Powerol, stated “Attaining the top position in India’s genset industry reflects our commitment to product reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Our market strength in Telecom, entry into new Retail territories, and readiness for CPCB IV+ norms have been instrumental in reaching this milestone. We appreciate the trust and support of our partners, customers, and teams nationwide. We remain focused on providing efficient and future-ready power solutions aligned with India’s progress.”
This achievement further strengthens Mahindra Powerol’s position as a reliable provider of robust power solutions. Mahindra Powerol operates under the Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors (AFS) of the Mahindra Group. Entering the power generation sector in 2001-02, the company has experienced substantial growth, surpassing ₹2,280 crore in revenue within just over two decades. Its product range includes diesel generator sets from 5 kVA to 650 kVA.
Mahindra Powerol gensets are widely adopted by major Telecom operators and have become a preferred choice in the Retail sector. They serve a diverse clientele across industries including banking, construction, government, healthcare, hospitality, residential, and manufacturing. The company has also commenced production of CPCB IV+ compliant engines across its entire product portfolio.
