Lupin Limited has announced that results from its ongoing Phase 1a clinical study evaluating LNP8701, an investigational SOS1 inhibitor for the treatment of metastatic solid tumors, have been accepted for presentation at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting 2026, taking place from May 29 to June 2 in Chicago, Illinois. The study abstract, titled “A Phase 1 Study to Evaluate Safety, Tolerability, and Pharmacokinetics of LNP8701 (SOS1 Inhibitor) in Subjects with Metastatic Solid Tumors,” has been included in the Developmental Therapeutics – Molecularly Targeted Agents and Tumor Biology category and published on the ASCO platform.
LNP8701 is an orally administered investigational therapy designed to inhibit SOS1 (Son of Sevenless1), a key protein involved in RAS pathway activation. By targeting SOS1-mediated signaling, the therapy aims to interrupt tumor-promoting cellular pathways linked to the growth and progression of several difficult-to-treat cancers.
According to the data presented from the first-in-human study, LNP8701 demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile across all tested dose levels. The findings also showed encouraging pharmacokinetic characteristics and early signs of anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors. Preliminary efficacy observations from the ongoing trial indicated that two patients remained on LNP8701 monotherapy treatment for 12 cycles, equivalent to one year of therapy, while another patient completed 14 treatment cycles and maintained stable disease during the evaluation period.
Vinita Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Lupin, said the latest findings represent an important step forward in the company’s oncology research efforts and reinforce its commitment to developing innovative therapies for patients with limited treatment options. “The ongoing Phase 1 study results demonstrate the emerging clinical potential of LNP8701 and support our broader efforts to advance novel therapeutic approaches for complex cancers. We remain focused on translating scientific innovation into meaningful outcomes for patients worldwide,” Ms Gupta said.
Lupin stated that the Phase 1 trial will continue to further assess the efficacy and therapeutic potential of LNP8701 in patients with solid tumors. The company is also evaluating the candidate in a Phase 1b study in India and exploring its application both as a standalone therapy and in combination with other anti-cancer treatments.
