Lupin Limited has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of VISUfarma BV from GHO Capital Partners LLP. The transaction marks a key step in Lupin’s strategy to expand its specialty care business and deepen its presence across European markets.
With this acquisition, Lupin significantly enhances its ophthalmology portfolio, which now includes more than 60 branded products. These offerings span a wide range of eye care segments, including dry eye, glaucoma, eyelid hygiene, blepharitis, retinal health, and specialty nutraceuticals. The expanded portfolio strengthens Lupin’s ability to address growing global demand for advanced eye care solutions.
VISUfarma brings with it a well-established commercial footprint across major European markets such as Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France. The company’s experienced team, strong relationships with healthcare professionals, and deep local market expertise are expected to play a crucial role in accelerating Lupin’s growth in the region.
Commenting on the development, Vinita Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Lupin, said the acquisition represents an important milestone in building a differentiated specialty portfolio. She noted that the addition of VISUfarma’s product range and commercial infrastructure not only strengthens Lupin’s European presence but also supports long-term growth in its specialty business.
Paolo Cioccetti, CEO Italy at VISUfarma, highlighted the strategic alignment between the two companies. He emphasized that Lupin’s global scale and commitment to ophthalmology make it an ideal partner to expand VISUfarma’s reach and impact in the eye care sector.
Founded in 2016 through the combination of an Italian ophthalmology business and European commercial operations, VISUfarma has grown into a specialized player in eye health, generating revenues of approximately €53 million in 2025. Its integration into Lupin is expected to unlock new growth opportunities and enhance innovation in ophthalmic therapies.
