Larsen & Toubro (L&T), through its Heavy Engineering division, has successfully shipped the fourth Steam Generator (SG) to the Kaiga Atomic Power Station in Karnataka. This marks the completion of the delivery of four SGs for one unit as part of India’s indigenously developed 10×700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor Fleet Programme.
The fourth SG was dispatched nine months ahead of the contracted timeline, with the entire set of four SGs delivered in just 45 months. This achievement sets a global standard, with the first SG delivered in an impressive 33 months. These SGs are intended for Units 5 and 6 at Kaiga. The shipment ceremony took place at L&T’s A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, with senior officials from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) in attendance.
