Log9 and TORK Motors, two prominent players in India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape, have joined forces to advance interoperable charging infrastructure in the country through the Bharat Charge Alliance (BCA). This alliance, comprising various industry members, aims to standardize and enhance the charging experience for electric motorcycles and three-wheelers. Log9, renowned for its expertise in battery pack manufacturing, has introduced the Type 6-Bharat LEV fast charging across its latest battery platforms in the 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler segments.
The Type 6 fast-charging standard is anticipated to become the low-voltage benchmark for the next generation, with several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) expected to adopt this standardized approach. This move aligns with the government’s push for a standardized low-voltage fast-charging platform, filling a crucial gap in the market. The partnership between Log9 and TORK Motors signals a strategic commitment to fostering interoperability and creating a seamless charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Under this collaboration, Log9 and TORK Motors will enable customers of both brands to utilize their chargers and charging networks. This interoperability is based on BCA’s LEV DC standard, ensuring compatibility across different charging stations. The standardization effort involves adhering to IS 17017-25 and IS 17017-2-6, which were released by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 2021. The partnership extends beyond current standards, as both companies commit to implementing any future updates in technology, including connectors, protocols, and payment gateways, to ensure sustained interoperability.

Kartik Hajela, COO of Log9, emphasized the significance of standardizing low-voltage fast-charging platforms, especially for last-mile commercial EV platforms. Log9 has been a strong advocate for interoperability in this category, recognizing its potential for enormous scalability. The introduction of Bharat LEV or Type 6 technology by the government is a pivotal step toward standardizing fast-charging practices across diverse EV platforms.
TORK Motors’ Founder & CEO, Kapil Shelke, highlighted the partnership as a crucial step in promoting interoperability among OEMs and ancillary companies in the Indian EV market. The collaboration aligns with TORK Motors’ commitment to the Bharat Charge Alliance initiative, advocating for comprehensive charging infrastructure that transcends manufacturers and benefits EV users nationwide.
This collaborative effort extends beyond individual brand interests, emphasizing the broader goal of creating a robust and user-friendly charging ecosystem. Customers of Log9 and TORK Motors, as well as other OEMs adhering to the IS 17017-2-6 and IS 17017-25 standards, will benefit from a combined charging network. This inclusive approach contributes to the growth of the overall EV market in India by providing users with convenient access to charging infrastructure, regardless of their vehicle’s manufacturer.
As India accelerates its transition to electric mobility, initiatives like the Bharat Charge Alliance play a pivotal role in streamlining the charging experience. Log9 and TORK Motors, through their collaborative efforts, not only prioritize customer convenience but also contribute to the larger vision of a sustainable and interconnected EV ecosystem in the country. This partnership underscores the industry’s commitment to cooperation and standardization for the benefit of EV users across India.
