L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received a follow-on production contract valued at up to $200 million to manufacture propulsion units for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) Insensitive Munition. The contract supports continued production of solid rocket motors used in precision-guided artillery systems.

This order will be the first to be executed at L3Harris’ newly built production facility in Camden, Arkansas. The site was developed with support from a Defense Production Act Title III cooperative agreement and is expected to increase the company’s annual production capacity by more than 30%.

Commenting on the award, Scott Alexander, President, Missile Solutions, Aerojet Rocketdyne, L3Harris, said, “This contract reflects the progress made in expanding and modernising our solid rocket motor manufacturing capabilities. Investments in new facilities and production processes are enabling higher output while maintaining quality and reliability for GMLRS propulsion systems.”

L3Harris has supplied propulsion units for the GMLRS programme for several decades. Through process improvements and advanced manufacturing methods, the company has increased production volumes by nearly 80%, supporting higher delivery rates and improved supply reliability.

The expanded production effort will be supported by L3Harris’ 60,000 square-foot energetics facility in Camden, Arkansas, along with inert component manufacturing at the company’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility – South in Huntsville, Alabama. Together, these facilities are intended to support accelerated production schedules and meet growing demand. This award represents the largest GMLRS IM contract L3Harris has received from Lockheed Martin for a single 12-month performance period.
