Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Limited has announced the launch of “Tonalli,” an advanced waste-to-energy solution designed to convert organic waste into valuable energy and fertilizer outputs. The new system was unveiled at the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Hadapsar, Pune, marking a significant addition to its portfolio of sustainable industrial technologies.

Tonalli has been developed as a compact, decentralised, and highly efficient organic waste management system aimed at supporting India’s growing focus on sustainable infrastructure and circular economy practices. The platform converts food and organic waste into biogas and organic fertilizer through a controlled anaerobic digestion process, ensuring complete utilization of waste material while reducing landfill dependency.

The launch event was attended by several prominent industrial leaders and technology experts from the Hadapsar Industrial Estate ecosystem. Senior representatives from leading manufacturing and engineering companies participated alongside the management team of Kirloskar Pneumatic and technology partner representatives associated with the project.

The Tonalli system has been introduced at a time when India is strengthening its regulatory framework around waste segregation and decentralized waste processing. With the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, organizations are increasingly expected to adopt sustainable waste handling systems capable of managing organic waste efficiently at source.

Designed for industrial canteens, residential communities, hospitality establishments, and institutional campuses, Tonalli addresses the need for localized waste processing solutions that reduce transportation costs, minimize environmental impact, and generate renewable energy.

A key feature of the system is its controlled anaerobic digestion technology, which converts organic waste into biogas under regulated environmental conditions. The solution also incorporates an inbuilt gas agitation mechanism that uses regulated biogas circulation instead of mechanical agitators, enhancing operational reliability while reducing maintenance requirements. The generated biogas undergoes a multi-stage purification process that includes moisture removal and hydrogen sulfide scrubbing before utilization. This enables cleaner and safer energy output suitable for practical industrial and commercial applications.

Speaking during the launch, technology partner Nuriel Pezarkar stated that Tonalli with BioBit Technology has been developed as a compact and plug-and-play system capable of delivering measurable environmental benefits. He highlighted that every installation contributes toward carbon reduction, reduced dependence on conventional fuels, and improved resource utilization.

Kirloskar Pneumatic stated that the introduction of Tonalli aligns with its long-term commitment toward engineering solutions focused on resource efficiency, sustainability, and operational performance. The company believes decentralized waste-to-energy technologies will play an important role in helping industries and institutions meet evolving environmental compliance requirements while creating economic value from everyday waste generation.

Established in 1958, Kirloskar Pneumatic Company Limited has built a diversified engineering portfolio across air, refrigeration, and gas compressors, industrial gearboxes, and energy-efficient systems serving sectors such as oil and gas, steel, cement, food processing, railways, marine, defense, and pharmaceuticals.
