Karl Roll has introduced the new Focus solvent cleaning system, designed for manufacturers that need high cleaning quality and consistent results while processing relatively low volumes of components. The compact system combines essential cleaning technologies with low energy and resource consumption, offering an economical solution for industries facing changing production requirements.
Manufacturing trends are leading to smaller production batches and more frequent cleaning cycles, while cleanliness requirements continue to rise. Components must be cleaned reliably and repeatedly without adding excessive operating costs. Karl Roll has developed the Focus to address these requirements with a closed-loop solvent cleaning process designed to provide high cleaning performance at a lower investment level.
The compact, plug-and-play system requires limited floor space and can operate with an industrial power supply and compressed air connection. The plant works under full vacuum and is compatible with hydrocarbons and modified alcohols. Its working chamber can accommodate components measuring up to 565 x 365 x 250 mm, with a maximum load of 50 kg.
High-cleanliness features are included as standard. The Focus is equipped with two solvent tanks, each with its own circulation system and bypass filtration. The configuration allows one tank to be used for pre-cleaning and the other for fine cleaning where stringent cleanliness specifications apply. Alternatively, the tanks can be configured for cleaning and conservation processes.
Two high-performance pumps enable rapid emptying of the working chamber, while integrated ultrasound provides additional cleaning capability. Ultrasound frequency can be adjusted to meet specific customer requirements. An integrated loading aid supports ergonomic operation and can be upgraded to an automatic loading and unloading system. A barcode scanning option is also available for automated and unmanned operation.
Energy efficiency was a key consideration in the development of the Focus. Vacuum pumps, heaters and drain pumps have been selected to provide an efficient balance between performance and energy consumption. An integrated distillation system continuously processes the solvent, while automatic oil removal helps maintain solvent quality and extends the service life of the cleaning medium.
Heat recovered from the distillation process and insulation of heated components further reduce energy consumption. A filtration unit removes particulate contaminants from the cleaning process. An optional automatic lid-locking system can also help prevent solvent exposure during manual filter replacement.
By concentrating on the equipment required for reliable high-quality cleaning, Karl Roll’s Focus system offers manufacturers a cost-effective solution for demanding small-batch and small-component cleaning applications. The system combines compact design, process stability and resource efficiency to support manufacturers seeking higher cleanliness standards without the cost of a large-volume cleaning installation.
