Jyoti Structures Limited (JSL), a leading engineering, procurement and construction company focused on power transmission infrastructure, has intensified its health and safety measures across project locations and manufacturing operations to safeguard workers during the peak summer season. The company has implemented a comprehensive Heat Safety Program aimed at minimizing risks associated with extreme temperatures and ensuring employee well-being across all operational sites.
With rising temperatures impacting outdoor and industrial work environments across India, JSL has introduced a structured Summer Safety Plan covering transmission line construction projects, fabrication units, and manufacturing facilities. The initiative has been designed to address heat-related challenges such as dehydration, fatigue, heat exhaustion, and other weather-related occupational risks.
As part of the program, work schedules at project sites have been adjusted to reduce exposure during the hottest hours of the day. Field teams have been instructed to prioritize work during cooler morning and evening periods while limiting physically demanding activities during peak afternoon temperatures. Drinking water stations, oral rehydration solutions, and electrolyte beverages have been made readily available across all work locations.
The company has also established shaded rest areas close to active work zones, enabling employees to take regular breaks and recover from prolonged exposure to heat. Additional measures include daily safety briefings, worker health assessments, emergency preparedness reviews, and enhanced first-aid readiness.
Employees involved in physically intensive activities such as transmission tower erection, material movement, fabrication, galvanization, and site construction have received specialized training focused on recognizing early warning signs of heat-related illnesses. The training emphasizes hydration practices, safe work behaviors, proper use of protective equipment, and the importance of rest and recovery.
To strengthen emergency response capabilities, JSL has conducted heat stress simulation exercises at active project locations. These drills are designed to familiarize workers, supervisors, and response teams with procedures for managing heat-related incidents, including first-aid administration, evacuation protocols, stretcher handling, and communication procedures.
At its manufacturing facility in Nashik, the company has expanded awareness initiatives through practical training sessions covering workplace safety, housekeeping standards, and safe material handling practices. Informational displays and safety communication boards have been installed throughout production areas to reinforce key safety messages.
The heat safety initiative forms part of JSL’s broader Health, Safety, and Environment framework, which guides safety management across all business operations. Through continuous training, preventive planning, and operational discipline, the company aims to create a safer working environment while maintaining high standards of operational performance.
