Juniper Green Energy Limited has announced the full commissioning of a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, through its subsidiary Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited. The facility marks the company’s first operational merchant storage project and places Juniper among the early entrants in India’s emerging grid-scale energy storage market.

The project completed trial operations and received clearance from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre before entering commercial operations on January 23, 2026. With its full 100 MWh capacity now online, the Bikaner facility is among the larger battery storage systems currently operating in India. It is expected to generate revenue through peak power arbitrage, grid-balancing services, and participation in ancillary markets.

Juniper Green Energy partnered with Envision Energy for the supply and installation of the storage systems at the Bikaner site. Battery storage is considered an important element in supporting renewable energy integration, stabilising power supply, managing peak demand, and improving utilisation of transmission infrastructure.

Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Juniper Green Energy, said the commissioning marks an important step in the company’s expansion into advanced energy solutions. He noted that large-scale battery storage can improve grid reliability while supporting India’s transition to cleaner power sources.

As part of its long-term strategy, Juniper plans to deploy storage capacity alongside its solar projects connected to the interstate transmission system, creating an integrated renewable-plus-storage portfolio. The company has also installed an additional 400 MWh of battery storage capacity at Fatehgarh in Rajasthan, which is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2026.

Juniper Green Energy is an independent renewable power producer focused on developing, building, and operating utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid projects across India. Headquartered in Delhi NCR, the company has grown its operational capacity to about 1.66 gigawatt-peak as of January 2026. Its activities span the full project lifecycle, from planning and construction to long-term operations, contributing to India’s clean energy expansion.

Juniper Green Energy is part of the Singapore-based AT Capital Group, which invests in renewable energy, real estate, and infrastructure sectors across India, the Gulf region, and Europe. The commissioning of the Bikaner storage project highlights Juniper’s commitment to strengthening grid resilience and advancing the country’s renewable energy transition.
