JSW Steel Records 7.03 Million Tonnes of Crude Steel Production in Q3, Up 2% YoY

JSW Steel has reported its highest-ever consolidated crude steel production for the third quarter of FY25, reaching 7.03 million tonnes, a 2% year-on-year increase from 6.87 million tonnes in Q3FY24. Sequentially, production rose by 4% compared to 6.77 million tonnes in Q2FY25.

For its Indian operations, the company also achieved a record-high crude steel output of 6.82 million tonnes, marking a 3% increase from the 6.63 million tonnes recorded in Q3FY24. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, production rose by 3% from 6.63 million tonnes in Q2FY25.

In its U.S. operations, JSW Steel’s Ohio business recorded production of 0.21 million tonnes during Q3FY25. The company reported a capacity utilization rate of 91% for its Indian operations during the quarter, excluding trial runs. Production was temporarily impacted by maintenance work on a blast furnace at the Dolvi plant in October, which resumed normal operations in early November.

Over the nine-month period of FY25, JSW Steel’s total combined volumes increased by 1.35%, reaching 20.16 million tonnes compared to 19.89 million tonnes in 9M FY24. Progress continues on JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd.’s 5 MTPA Integrated Steel Project at Vijayanagar, a wholly owned subsidiary.

The ramp-up of production at this facility is expected in Q4FY25. Once fully operational, the project will increase Vijayanagar’s total crude steel capacity to 17.5 MTPA, bringing JSW Steel’s overall Indian operations capacity from 29.2 MTPA to 34.2 MTPA.

In Q2FY25, JSW Steel reported a net profit of ₹404 crore, an 85.4% drop from ₹2,773 crore in Q2FY24, while revenue from operations fell by 11% to ₹39,684 crore compared to ₹44,584 crore in the same period last year.
