On Monday, Jindal Stainless announced that it will begin producing customized stainless steel and specialty low-alloy steel sheets specifically for defense projects undertaken by BrahMos Aerospace. The company will also be supplying steel plates from its Hisar facility in Haryana, according to a recent statement. Jindal Stainless has achieved accreditation from BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd, qualifying it as a trusted vendor for the manufacture and supply of steel sheets and plates.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, expressed the company’s commitment to a vision of India becoming fully self-reliant in its defense needs. He stated, “Our aim is to contribute significantly to India’s defense sector, ensuring that we meet and exceed the rigorous standards required for such crucial applications.”
He added, “Enhancing our capabilities to support this vision and contributing to the fortification of our nation’s defense capabilities is both a passion and a point of pride for us.” Historically, Jindal Stainless has been involved in supplying materials for various high-profile projects managed by DRDO and ISRO.
These include India’s lunar exploration mission Chandrayaan, the PSLV and GSLV Mk3 rocket programs, nuclear submarine missile systems, missile canisters for different missile projects, and rocket exhaust units. Recently, the company also developed and provided 3 mm special alloy steel sheets for the Supersonic Missile-Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) system, underscoring its ongoing role in supporting critical defense technologies.
