Jindal Stainless provided stainless steel to make 100 freight wagons in India, which were sent to Mozambique. These wagons, made with special stainless steel for Indian Railways, were shipped from Gujarat’s Deendayal Port to Mozambique’s Port of Nacala. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways of India supported this project, praising it as a significant achievement in exports and manufacturing.
The wagons, designed by Jindal Rail Infrastructure (JRIL), can carry 63 metric tonnes each. JRIL has a good history of supplying high-quality wagons to Indian Railways, private companies, and international markets. They used 4.3 tonnes of special stainless steel for each wagon, making them lighter and more durable than traditional wagons. This steel is more resistant to corrosion, reducing costs and environmental impact over time.
These wagons will transport coal and iron ore. So far, 24 wagons have arrived in Mozambique, 26 are at the port, and 50 are on their way.
