Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless-steel producer, has secured a major global sustainability milestone with an ESG score of 78 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Corporate Sustainability Assessment for FY25. This places the company among the top 5% of steel manufacturers worldwide, ranking fourth in the global steel industry and first in the stainless-steel segment as of November FY25. The score marks a sharp rise from 60 in FY24, reflecting the company’s accelerated shift toward transparent, responsible, and sustainability-led growth.
Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said this global recognition highlights the company’s dedication to ethical growth and long-term value creation, noting that sustainability is woven into daily operations rather than treated as a one-time goal.
The CSA results show strong performance across all ESG pillars: 83 in Environmental, 73 in Social, and 76 in Governance & Economic—well above the industry averages of 37, 35, and 36. With a 97% data availability rate and a perfect 100 in Transparency & Reporting, Jindal Stainless stands among the most accountable companies in the global steel sector. Chief Sustainability Officer Kalyan Bhattacherjee attributed the achievement to the company’s deep integration of climate strategy, energy efficiency, water and waste management, biodiversity efforts, health and safety, cybersecurity, and ethical business practices.
Jindal Stainless is also the only steel-sector company to receive the Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability in FY25, reinforcing its leadership in ESG excellence. The company’s sustainability initiatives—including Odisha’s largest captive solar power plant, energy-efficiency upgrades, digitalised supply chains, and community development programs—helped reduce GHG emissions by 14% year-on-year in FY25.
Jindal Stainless reported a turnover of INR 40,182 crore (USD 4.75 billion) in FY25 and is expanding towards a 4.2 million tonne annual melt capacity by FY27. With 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India and overseas, and a presence in 12 countries, the company offers a wide portfolio ranging from coils, plates, and sheets to precision strips, rebars, wire rods, blade steel, and coin blanks. Established in 1970, the company continues to focus on innovation and sustainable manufacturing, producing stainless steel through electric arc furnaces that cut greenhouse gas emissions and allow efficient metal recycling.
