Jeep® is celebrating 85 years of its global legacy, marking a journey that has defined freedom, adventure and unmatched 4×4 capability for generations of enthusiasts worldwide. Since the introduction of the iconic Willys in 1941, the brand has grown into one of the world’s most recognized automotive names, combining engineering excellence with a spirit of exploration that continues to inspire customers across markets.

Over the past eight and a half decades, Jeep has played a defining role in the evolution of sport utility vehicles. From the Willys Wagon, among the first utility vehicles to feature all-steel construction and four-wheel drive, to the launch of the Jeep Wagoneer that helped shape the modern SUV segment, the brand has consistently introduced vehicles that set new benchmarks in capability, durability and innovation.

Today, Jeep vehicles are known globally for their exceptional off-road performance, distinctive styling and premium driving experience. The brand’s signature seven-slot grille has become an enduring symbol of adventure, representing a legacy that encourages drivers to explore beyond conventional roads.

In India, Jeep has steadily strengthened its position in the premium SUV segment since re-entering the market in 2016. Its product portfolio, comprising the Jeep Compass, Meridian, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, has attracted customers seeking authentic SUV capability, refined craftsmanship and confidence across varied terrains. The brand has also built a strong community of enthusiasts through customer engagement programs, off-road experiences and owner events that celebrate the shared passion for exploration.

Commenting on the milestone, Shailesh Hazela, CEO and Managing Director, Stellantis India, said, “In the 1940s, Jeep set a benchmark for capability when it first introduced the world to the Willys. Eighty-five years later, our SUVs continue to deliver world-class craftsmanship and exceptional on-road and off-road performance. With a growing community of Jeep enthusiasts, India remains an important market for the brand. Supported by our manufacturing and export capabilities, India has also become an increasingly strategic part of Jeep’s global footprint.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Jeep India has introduced the globally popular ‘Duck Duck Jeep’ movement to Indian customers. The initiative encourages Jeep owners to place a rubber duck along with a friendly note on another Jeep vehicle as a gesture of appreciation and community spirit. What began as a simple act of kindness among Jeep owners in 2020 has since evolved into a worldwide tradition, strengthening the sense of belonging among Jeep enthusiasts across countries.

Looking ahead, Jeep remains focused on advancing vehicle technology, sustainability and capability while preserving the core values that have defined the brand for 85 years. The company continues to invest in innovative powertrains, including internal combustion, hybrid and all-electric technologies, while maintaining the rugged performance and versatility that have become synonymous with the Jeep name.

For nearly 85 years, Jeep has been one of the world’s leading SUV brands, known for its iconic design, off-road capability, advanced technology and versatile vehicles. Built on a legacy of freedom, adventure and innovation, the brand offers a wide range of SUVs powered by petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric powertrains to meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide.

In India, Jeep offers the Wrangler, Compass, Meridian and Grand Cherokee. India is the first market outside North America where Jeep manufactures four models locally, serving both domestic customers and export markets across right-hand-drive countries. Jeep is part of Stellantis, one of the world’s leading automotive and mobility companies.
