In a major boost to digital inclusion and skill development, Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, flagged off five new Solar Community Hub Skill Vans aimed at bringing technology-enabled learning and employability opportunities closer to underserved communities across the country.
The initiative has been developed by Dell Technologies in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and is being implemented by the Learning Links Foundation. The newly launched mobile learning hubs will serve communities across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra, expanding access to digital education, artificial intelligence-enabled learning tools, and job-oriented training.
Powered entirely through solar energy, each van is equipped with laptops, internet connectivity, interactive digital displays, and advanced learning resources. The initiative is designed to bridge infrastructure gaps by delivering technology and skills training directly to learners, particularly youth, women, and economically disadvantaged groups.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Chaudhary emphasized the importance of creating equitable access to technology and skills. He noted that the mobile hubs combine clean energy, modern learning technologies, and industry-relevant training, helping prepare young Indians for opportunities emerging in a rapidly evolving economy.
The programme extends beyond basic digital literacy by introducing structured learning pathways aligned with future workforce requirements. More than 50 vocational institutions, higher education establishments, and community organizations are expected to benefit from the expanded network. Training modules have been designed to address emerging industry demands while improving employability and workforce readiness.
Dell Technologies India President and Managing Director Manish Gupta said the initiative demonstrates the impact of collaboration among government, industry, and community organizations. He highlighted that the programme is focused on empowering learners within their own communities and creating pathways to future careers through technology-led education.
Since the launch of the first Solar Community Hub Skill Vans in FY23, the programme has expanded significantly. The initiative has reached 18 districts across 14 states and directly impacted more than 2.67 million individuals. Globally, similar mobile learning platforms are operating across 12 countries through a network of 63 skill vans.
The latest expansion reflects a growing focus on inclusive development and workforce transformation. By combining renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and practical training, the initiative seeks to equip learners with skills that remain relevant in a technology-driven economy.
As India continues its journey towards becoming a digitally empowered nation, mobile learning solutions such as these are expected to play an important role in extending opportunities to communities that have traditionally remained outside the reach of advanced educational infrastructure.
