Ind-Swift Laboratories Limited plans to upgrade its manufacturing facility in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, to meet EU-GMP and PICS standards, enabling the company to expand its finished dosage business into European and other regulated international markets. The company expects the upgraded facility to generate additional revenue of around ₹100 crore from FY2029-30 onwards through exports to Europe and other regulated markets. The plant is expected to achieve EU-GMP compliance and approval by early 2028.
Ind-Swift plans to invest approximately ₹45 crore in the facility upgrade. This investment does not include additional spending on research and development, product development and regulatory registrations required for the expansion into new markets. The Jammu facility was established in 2008 and has a built-up area of approximately 14,700 square metres. It currently serves domestic customers, third-party manufacturing requirements and soft-regulated international markets.
The plant has installed capabilities for manufacturing oral solid dosage products and ointments. It currently operates under WHO-GMP and ISO 9001:2008 standards. Following the planned upgrade, the facility is expected to become capable of serving customers across a wider range of regulated international markets.
The upgraded plant will support both Ind-Swift’s contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) business and its own-brand product portfolio. The company expects the expansion to strengthen its international manufacturing capabilities and increase its presence in regulated pharmaceutical markets.
Ind-Swift said the investment is being undertaken in response to growing demand for its products in export markets. Achieving EU-GMP and PICS compliance is expected to provide the facility with access to additional international opportunities and support the company’s long-term export growth.
The proposed upgrade comes as the company reports stronger financial performance in the first quarter of FY27. Ind-Swift Laboratories’ operating income increased 21.16% year-on-year to ₹186.08 crore, compared with ₹153.58 crore in Q1 FY26. Operating EBITDA rose sharply by 2.85 times to ₹33.32 crore, from ₹8.66 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The operating EBITDA margin improved to 17.91%, an increase of 1,258 basis points from 5.33% in Q1 FY26.
Profit after tax, excluding exceptional items, increased to ₹24.68 crore, compared with ₹8.12 crore in Q1 FY26, representing a 2.04-times year-on-year increase. PAT margin improved to 13.26%, from 4.99% in the year-ago quarter. The Jammu facility upgrade is expected to complement the company’s improving financial performance by creating additional manufacturing capacity for regulated markets.
Once the planned improvements and regulatory approvals are completed, Ind-Swift expects the facility to serve customers across Europe and other international markets while continuing to support its domestic and CDMO operations. The investment represents another step in Ind-Swift’s strategy to expand its finished dosage manufacturing capabilities and build a stronger export-oriented pharmaceutical business.
