Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global IT services and consulting firm, has enabled ICICI Lombard to establish a fully automated multi-region disaster recovery (DR) framework on Amazon Web Services (AWS). With this development, ICICI Lombard becomes one of the first insurers in India to achieve such cloud-native, automation-driven resilience.

The DR solution, built on AWS-native technologies and an infrastructure-as-code approach, ensures seamless failover with minimal downtime or manual intervention. The system leverages serverless architecture and intelligent automation to provide strong business continuity and geographical redundancy.

ICICI Lombard has been operating on AWS Cloud since 2021, with TCS playing a key role in migration and modernization of its core applications. The new DR setup enhances operational resilience, shortens recovery timelines, and strengthens customer service reliability.

Girish Nayak, Chief – Technology and Health (Underwriting & Claims), ICICI Lombard, said the automated setup aligns with the company’s digital-first operating model and commitment to uninterrupted service. Ujjwal Mathur, President & Country Head – India Business, TCS, added that the engagement sets a new benchmark for disaster recovery in the BFSI sector by combining automation, scale, and cloud-native innovation.

TCS has been ICICI Lombard’s technology partner since 2006, managing its data center operations and later facilitating a full cloud migration. The company is currently supporting Project Orion, a modernization program deploying TCS BaNCS™ Insurance to further enhance digital capabilities.
