The International Copper Association India (ICA India) is showcasing the vital role of copper in revolutionizing the mobility sector at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, held from January 17-22 at Bharat Mandapam. With the theme “Copper is Everywhere,” ICA India’s exhibit emphasizes the metal’s significant contributions to modern life and sustainable innovation.
The display focuses on copper’s applications in electric vehicles (EVs), including its use in batteries, motors, and charging infrastructure. The stall also features visual representations of copper’s versatility, showcasing everyday items made from the material and its role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through clean energy solutions like solar panels, wind turbines, and EVs.
Mayur Karmarkar, Managing Director of ICA India, shared, “Although copper makes up only 4% of an electric vehicle’s total weight, it is essential to its safety and performance. Copper is the backbone of modern transportation. Its recyclability ensures that end-of-life scrap can be reused without losing quality, reinforcing its importance in sustainable mobility.”
The exhibit includes interactive displays and live demonstrations, including a mock-up electric car to highlight copper’s use in electric drive trains, wiring harnesses, and batteries. ICA India’s booth was visited by key figures like Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and various industry leaders.
ICA India’s participation at the expo underscores copper’s importance in India’s economic growth and clean energy transition. Copper’s unique properties and recyclability make it a crucial material in sectors like construction, transportation, infrastructure, defense, and healthcare. The exhibit also showcases copper’s role in driving technological advancements to create a safer, greener, and more connected world.
Abhishek Mohla, President & CSMO of Hindalco Industries (Copper Division), noted, “Hindalco is well-positioned to meet the rising demand for copper in India’s automotive sector. By collaborating with all stakeholders, we aim to support innovations in areas such as EV batteries and charging infrastructure. Our goal is to deliver advanced solutions for India and the global market.”
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo serves as India’s leading platform for sustainable and innovative mobility solutions, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and technology providers. ICA India’s participation emphasizes copper’s critical role in enabling the shift toward green, energy-efficient transportation systems, particularly electric vehicles.
The International Copper Association India (ICA India) is the Indian branch of the International Copper Association (ICA), a global non-profit organization founded in 1959 to promote copper use. Operating in India since 1998, ICA India works closely with the growing number of copper users through its programs focused on improving electrical safety, energy efficiency, clean energy, and sustainability. ICA India plays a key role in advancing industry standards by promoting the technical advantages of copper across various applications.
