The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) has successfully disbursed ₹3.38 crore in scholarships to 783 underprivileged students across India as part of its Hope Scholarship Program. Launched in August 2024, the program received applications from 23 states and selected 440 students preparing for Civil Services and Common Law Admission Tests (CLAT), along with 343 students from various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) working on innovation projects.

At the award ceremony held yesterday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, along with HMIF officials, presented the scholarships. Rijiju emphasized the initiative’s role in enhancing skill development and fostering self-reliance among India’s youth.

“This program provides crucial financial support to talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue their aspirations without financial constraints,” said Rijiju. Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Trustee of HMIF, highlighted how the scholarship aligns with Hyundai’s broader vision. “We are committed to nurturing future policymakers and innovators who will drive India’s growth and development,” he stated.

Before finalizing the selection, the scholarship outreach campaign engaged with over 44,000 students nationwide. The program is being implemented in partnership with BharatCares to ensure effective distribution and impact.

The Hope Scholarship Program specifically targets meritorious students from economically weaker sections, providing them with financial assistance to pursue higher education and innovation-driven projects. Through this initiative, HMIF continues to invest in India’s next generation of leaders and change-makers.
