HPL Electric & Power Ltd has announced the launch of ‘Neeram Pulse’, a smart water metering solution designed to support utilities and smart city programmes as water networks increasingly shift towards data-driven operations. The solution enables accurate measurement and seamless integration with AMR and AMI systems.
Alongside the product launch, HPL has commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Gurugram dedicated to smart water meters, positioning the company among the early manufacturers of integrated smart water metering solutions in India. The facility will produce ultrasonic and multi-jet water meters for municipal, industrial, and agricultural applications.
Global utilities are accelerating investments in smart water infrastructure to improve billing efficiency, curb non-revenue water, and enable proactive leak detection. Industry estimates indicate that the global smart water meter market is expected to grow from approximately USD 4.61 billion in 2024 to USD 9.04 billion by 2030, reflecting strong long-term demand.
Designed for demanding field conditions, ‘Neeram Pulse’ features an IP68-rated sealed body, tamper and magnetic interference detection, high-accuracy long-life metering, and compliance with Indian and international standards including IS 779 and ISO 4064. The meter supports AMR-ready communication options such as LoRa RF, offers up to 10 years of battery life (subject to configuration), and enables event alerts for leakage, reverse flow, and system anomalies.
Commenting on the launch, Rishi Seth, Managing Director, HPL Electric & Power Ltd., said the entry into smart water metering represents a natural extension of HPL’s leadership in electric metering. Leveraging its R&D capabilities and large-scale execution experience, the company aims to support utilities as smart water deployments move from pilot projects to widespread implementation.
The launch of ‘Neeram Pulse’ further strengthens HPL’s Metering Systems & Services portfolio, which has been a key growth driver for the company. With strong demand under national smart infrastructure initiatives, HPL continues to build a diversified and resilient business spanning both power and water management solutions.
