Horse Powertrain, a global specialist in hybrid and internal combustion powertrain technologies, has announced its entry into the Indian market, aligning with the country’s accelerating shift toward cleaner and more efficient mobility. The company’s India foray coincides with improving global trade sentiment and the proposed India–EU Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to boost technology collaboration and strengthen automotive supply chains between the two regions. This environment presents strong opportunities for global powertrain players to work closely with Indian OEMs and localise advanced solutions.

India is among the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets, with annual passenger vehicle production exceeding four million units. At the same time, stricter BS-VI emission norms, Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) targets, and the government’s push toward 20% ethanol blending (E20) are driving demand for flexible, low-emission, and hybrid powertrain technologies that can be deployed quickly and efficiently.

Horse Powertrain’s product portfolio is tailored for this transition phase, offering adaptable solutions that help manufacturers meet regulatory requirements without immediate dependence on full electrification. Designed for easy integration into existing vehicle platforms, these systems enable faster development cycles and lower costs for OEMs.

Speaking on the development, Matias Giannini, CEO of Horse Powertrain, said, “Our focus is on delivering practical and affordable powertrain solutions that help reduce emissions while meeting real-world market needs. India is a strategically important market for us, not only due to its scale but also its influence on global mobility trends. We’re pleased to engage directly with OEMs and partners at ACMA this year as the industry enters its next phase of growth.”
