Hitachi Energy inaugurated its Global Technology and Innovation Center in Chennai, India, with a focus on advancing sustainable energy systems. The state-of-the-art facility spans 300,000 square feet and includes cutting-edge laboratories staffed by over 2,500 energy transition specialists. The Center is designed to offer comprehensive support across various energy industry segments. The inauguration ceremony featured prominent figures, including the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, highlighting the state’s growing significance in innovation and research.

Hitachi Energy proudly unveiled its state-of-the-art Global Technology and Innovation Center in Chennai, India, reaffirming its commitment to fostering sustainable, flexible, and secure energy systems in India and worldwide. The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru graced the prestigious inauguration ceremony. M.K. Stalin, and Dr. T.R.B. Rajaa, Minister of Industries, Tamil Nadu, alongside Claudio Facchin, CEO of Hitachi Energy, and N Venu, Managing Director and CEO, India and South Asia, Hitachi Energy.

The 300,000 square feet facility, with an impressive 50,000 square feet dedicated to cutting-edge laboratories, will be home to over 2,500 energy transition technologists equipped with post-doctorate, doctorate, and postgraduate degrees, specializing in crucial areas such as grid automation, transformers, high-voltage technology, and grid integration. This center represents a significant step towards advancing the energy landscape for a more sustainable future.

Stalin, Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed his enthusiasm about the investment in the state, stating, “Such world-class innovation and technology centers coming up in Tamil Nadu reflects the quality of our local talent and will further boost the state’s vision of becoming a trillion-dollar economy by 2030. I congratulate Hitachi Energy for the inauguration of this state-of-the-art innovation and technology center and look forward to their inclusive growth journey.”

The Global Technology and Innovation Center is strategically designed as a self-sufficient infrastructure capable of providing end-to-end support for various business models catering to different segments of the energy industry. This hub in Chennai marks a significant milestone in Hitachi Energy’s mission to advance sustainable energy systems.

The center consolidates diverse engineering and R&D capabilities that Hitachi Energy has built over the years. With the ability to execute over 1,000 projects a year across 40 countries worldwide, it encompasses competencies in engineering, project management, tendering, supply chain management, customer service, marketing, cyber security, commissioning, system studies, remote services, and much more. This center will serve as the brain trust for projects executed by Hitachi Energy entities worldwide.
