Hindustan Zinc wraps up impactful participation at IITF 2025 with the ‘Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc’ corrosion awareness campaign Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s leading integrated zinc producer and one of the largest global producers of silver, successfully concluded its presence at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025. Set up in the Mining Pavilion, the company delivered a highly engaging and memorable showcase featuring its national awareness drive, ‘Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc’. The campaign focused on spreading knowledge about the role of galvanization in preventing rust and ensuring the long-lasting performance of vehicles, infrastructure and everyday utility products. Visitors across age groups connected with the display, which struck an emotional chord through smart use of nostalgia. A vintage Priya scooter served as the centrepiece, instantly grabbing attention and demonstrating how zinc galvanization protects metal from deterioration over time.
To present the concept in a simple, visual format, Hindustan Zinc introduced a split scooter model — one half protected with galvanization and the other left untreated. The stark contrast effectively showed how zinc coatings shield metal surfaces from corrosion and highlighted the importance of galvanization for public safety, long-term durability and nation-building infrastructure. The installation emerged as a relatable tool to explain corrosion in both household objects and industrial-scale structures.
Farida Naik, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines, applauded the initiative, calling it “a model example of public awareness done right.” She noted that the campaign not only captured attention but translated a technical subject into an accessible learning experience for citizens.
The company also interacted directly with fair visitors through short conversations and a quick quiz designed to evaluate familiarity with corrosion and zinc usage. More than 2,000 people completed the quiz, offering insights into public perception of zinc’s protective properties. The stall saw footfall of over 1 lakh visitors, underscoring the strong reach and interest generated by the campaign.
Reflecting on the exhibition, Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra said that the organisation’s objective at IITF was to simplify the concept of galvanization for the general public by using powerful visual demonstrations. He added that corrosion protection is critical not only for daily consumer products but also for building resilient national infrastructure that supports the vision of Viksit Bharat. The enthusiastic response, he noted, confirmed the importance of continued public education on galvanization.
Alongside the corrosion awareness activation, visitors also experienced a wider range of digital and interactive exhibits from Hindustan Zinc. These included an RFID-based installation highlighting the importance of critical minerals for India’s Critical Mineral Mission and the global clean energy transition; an immersive AR/VR tour of the Rampura Agucha Mine and Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter; a product zone showcasing Special High Grade Zinc, 99.997% Pure Silver, and EcoZen — Asia’s first low-carbon green zinc; and an AI photo memento corner. The showcase also featured products created through the company’s flagship social empowerment initiatives, Sakhi and Upaya, reaffirming its commitment to community upliftment and sustainable livelihoods. Hindustan Zinc’s participation at IITF 2025 once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing India’s Critical Mineral Mission, strengthening public understanding of rust prevention and material protection, and promoting long-lasting, environmentally responsible infrastructure solutions that support national development.
